Both current Cohen Library exhibits honor distinguished alumni. Stanley Kaplan, creator of the Kaplan Test Prep system and Class of 1939, is the subject of the atrium exhibit on view through the end of December. Bashford Dean, Class of 1886, is honored for his contributions to New York’s cultural development through his work at the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Wave Hill. The Dean exhibit, “The First Knight of Gotham” is in the 5th floor Archives Gallery through October 31.

CUNY has allocated money to the libraries to support placing textbooks on reserve for student use.  With this funding we have been able to get from the bookstore textbooks for the Fall semester that sell for more than $100. Many are available on reserve now and more are arriving daily. While we can’t buy every textbook, we are trying to accommodate as many as possible, so be sure to check the library catalog to see if your course textbook is available. Reminder: Reserve items circulate for two hours.
